Metaplanet Issues $13.3M in Bonds to Buy More BTC

Japan-based Metaplanet has issued its tenth series of ordinary bonds worth ¥2 billion ($13.33 million), further fueling the company’s aggressive Bitcoin acquisition strategy. The bonds, with no interest payments and full redemption by September 30, 2025, were entirely allocated to EVO FUND. This move aligns with Metaplanet’s ambitious goal of accumulating large quantities of Bitcoin (BTC). Since embracing Bitcoin as a core asset in 2024, Metaplanet has invested over ¥42.22 billion ($270 million) in BTC, making it the leading corporate holder in Asia. The company uses a metric called Bitcoin Yield to track the growth of its holdings compared to diluted shares. This metric soared by 309.8% in Q4 2024 and currently sits at 68.3% for Q1 2025.
