Macau Launches Digital Pataca Prototype for Upcoming CBDC

Macau is taking its first steps towards adopting a central bank digital currency (CBDC) with the launch of a digital pataca prototype. The pilot program, scheduled to begin in late 2025, will involve public trials and could significantly impact local economic integration.
