Metaplanet Sets Ambitious Bitcoin Acquisition Target: 1% of Total Supply by 2027

Japanese public company Metaplanet has unveiled a bold new multi-year strategy to acquire 210,000 Bitcoins (BTC) by the end of 2027. This represents a significant milestone, aiming for 1% of the total Bitcoin supply, positioning Metaplanet as one of the largest BTC holders globally. The company’s track record of innovative financing and bold moves has fueled this ambition. As of June 2025, their holdings totaled 8,888 BTC, demonstrating a consistent commitment to Bitcoin since early 2023. The recent “555 Million Plan,” is set to raise approximately $7.7 billion in equity to further expand their Bitcoin investment.
