Russian National Arrested for Alleged Crypto Fraud in Seoul

A Russian national has been arrested in Seoul following an alleged fake cryptocurrency transaction that left two South Korean men assaulted and robbed. The incident, reported by local outlets like JoongAng Daily and ShibDaily, involved a meeting at a hotel where the suspect and his accomplices pretended to exchange cryptocurrencies with victims. The suspects, who concealed themselves in the bathroom, attacked the victims inside the room, brandishing what appeared to be a firearm before using cable ties and physical force. The two Korean men were allegedly targeted for approximately 1 billion won, roughly $728,000, but escaped after one of the attackers was thwarted. Authorities are now seeking out the suspects who fled the country, requesting Interpol’s help in tracking down those who have gone overseas.
