Lawmaker Proposes Withholding Starlink Services as Pressure on US Over Tariffs

In response to President Trump’s imposition of tariffs on India, Indian lawmaker Raghav Chadha has proposed a strategy involving withholding Starlink services from the country as leverage. Chadha, representing the Aam Aadmi Party, raised concerns about the 26% tariff imposed by the US administration, arguing that it could negatively impact India’s GDP and competitive edge in global markets. He suggests withholding Starlink approvals until U.S. tariffs are renegotiated. Chadha also questioned India’s data privacy laws’ role in Starlink’s resistance to sharing information with Indian authorities. The MP emphasized the need for a strategic response to counter the US tariff actions, highlighting Starlink’s potential as leverage to negotiate a favorable outcome.
