Peter Thiel Bets on Ethereum as Wall Street Seeks New Platforms for Real-World Assets

Billionaire investor Peter Thiel has placed his bet on Ethereum, believing it could become the preferred platform for real-world assets (RWA) within the financial industry. Founders Fund, his investment firm, has invested heavily in Ethereum and related companies utilizing ETH as a reserve asset, including ETHZilla and Bitmine. Thiel’s strategy rests on the idea that if Ethereum can facilitate alternative channels for clearing and settling dollars, stocks, and other assets outside traditional finance systems, its native token will benefit significantly from increased network activity. However, Nicolai Søndergaard, a research analyst at Nansen, cautions that the prospect of Wall Street rebuilding its financial infrastructure entirely on Ethereum may be more marketing than concrete reality. He suggests this move could be driven by the desire to draw investors towards companies operating within the Ethereum ecosystem.
