House Republicans Push Anti-CBDC Provision in Defense Spending Bill

In its defense spending bill, the House of Representatives has included an anti-central bank digital currency (CBDC) provision. This amendment aims to prevent the Federal Reserve from conducting any testing, development, or implementation of CBDCs. The provision exempts open, permissionless, and private CBDCs while excluding dollar-denominated currencies that maintain the privacy protections of U.S. coins and physical currency. This measure is a response to concerns about government control over finances and aligns with President Trump’s executive order against CBDCs.
