A major step forward has been taken in the class action lawsuit against BlockFi, with the last objection to the proposed $13.2 million settlement withdrawn. Yacov Baron’s challenge to the distribution plan has now been dropped, paving the way for final approval by U.S. District Judge Claire Cecchi. This settlement is designed to provide compensation to 89,000 BlockFi Interest Account (BIA) holders whose funds were frozen after the company went bankrupt in November 2022. The case arose from BlockFi’s sudden shutdown of its platform and subsequent withdrawal freezes that left users without access to their assets. However, this significant settlement is seen as a potential turning point for recovery in one of the biggest cryptocurrency industry bankruptcies.
