Companies are increasingly turning their attention to Ethereum, raising questions about whether it will overtake Bitcoin as a dominant cryptocurrency asset. A recent Reddit discussion highlighted Fundamental Global Inc.’s (FGF) plan to raise $5 billion and invest most of it in Ethereum. FGF aims to accumulate ETH for long-term holding and use it in decentralized finance (DeFi) applications to generate further returns for their shareholders. This puts them among a growing group of companies known as Ethereum treasuries, each focused on maximizing ETH holdings. Unlike Bitcoin’s focus on store-of-value status, these firms view ETH as a productive asset with the potential for both long-term growth and yield generation through staking.
