Thailand Launches TouristDigiPay: Crypto to Baht Conversion for Tourists

Thailand has launched TouristDigiPay, a groundbreaking initiative that allows tourists to seamlessly convert their cryptocurrencies into Thai baht for convenient QR payments. This innovative program, spearheaded by the Finance Ministry and overseen by the SEC and Bank of Thailand, aims to revolutionize the country’s tourism sector and boost economic growth. It facilitates a smooth transition from digital assets to traditional currency while maintaining regulatory oversight. The program is currently in a sandbox environment, offering non-residents a 5-year tax holiday on crypto profits. By enabling frictionless payments using QR codes at merchants, TouristDigiPay promises to enhance tourist engagement and bolster the country’s reputation as a leader in integrating digital assets into its financial ecosystem.
