U.S. Seeks to Tax Penguin Island as Geopolitical Strategy

U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick has proposed adding Penguin Island to the list of trade targets, aiming to prevent exploitation through a loophole. This follows President Trump’s global tariff plan for Heard and McDonald Islands in Australia’s Southern Ocean. These uninhabited islands, home only to penguins and seals, were recently added to the tariff scope. While not engaging in commercial activities with the U.S., they face a 10% tariff rate imposed due to this policy.
