Crypto Options Expiry Fuels $10.9B Trading Volume Surge

A surge in trading activity fueled by the expiration of numerous cryptocurrency options contracts has propelled market volumes to record levels. The August 15th expiry saw a substantial total notional value of nearly $6 billion, with 39,000 Bitcoin (BTC) and 280,000 Ethereum (ETH) options contracts expiring. This marked around 9% of the current open interest.
