Cardano Foundation Invests in Free Native Asset CDN

The Cardano Foundation has shifted its stance on a proposal for a free native asset content distribution network (CDN), now voting ‘in favor’ of allocating $605,000 ADA to support the initiative. Initially expressing reservations due to financial concerns, this decision follows clarity provided by the NFTCDN team about their budget plan. The proposal aims to provide all Cardano developers with 18 months of free CDN services, alleviating significant costs associated with content distribution. The NFTCDN team’s detailed budget for salaries and infrastructure has also addressed these concerns. During this strategic period, data will be collected through a 18-month implementation period to allow DReps to vote on three potential future paths: open-source, decentralized, or transfer to a non-profit organization. The lack of a dedicated funding category within Project Catalyst necessitated the use of treasury withdrawals for this infrastructure project. The Foundation considers this proposal a worthwhile public investment, ensuring long-term sustainability and immediate benefit.
