Former Wex CEO Faces Charges in U.S., Extradited from Poland

Dmitry Vasiliev, former CEO of the now-defunct Russian cryptocurrency exchange Wex, has been extradited to the United States. Following his arrest in Warsaw last year at a U.S. request regarding suspected fraud and money laundering, he will now face potential charges that could lead to a 25-year prison sentence. Vasiliev was detained for his alleged involvement in activities linked to Wex’s collapse in 2018 after the company took over its customer base from the defunct BTC-e exchange.
