Ripple Forecasts 14% SWIFT Transaction Capture in Five Years

In a bold prediction, Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse suggests that XRP could capture up to 14% of interbank messaging platform SWIFT’s transaction volume within the next five years. This projection was revealed during the XRPL Apex Conference in Singapore where Garlinghouse highlighted the driving forces behind his optimistic outlook: expanded DeFi applications and increasing institutional investment in cryptocurrency. According to him, SWIFT currently relies on messaging and liquidity, with banks owning liquidity. He believes XRP can fill this void by becoming a provider of crypto-powered liquidity. Garlinghouse’s vision is rooted in Ripple’s strategy to leverage blockchain technology for faster and cheaper cross-border transactions, aiming to displace SWIFT as the dominant player in international payments.
