Connecticut Bans Crypto in Government Funds, Becomes First to Do So

Connecticut has taken a historic step by passing House Bill 7082 (Public Act No. 25-66), the nation’s most expansive ban on government involvement with cryptocurrencies. This law prohibits state and municipal bodies from establishing cryptocurrency reserves or accepting digital assets for taxes, fees, or financial obligations. The legislation effectively halts any future state-supported crypto projects in Connecticut. Moreover, it imposes stringent protections for virtual currency service providers to prevent misuse of these services.
