Connecticut Passes Bill Banning Cryptocurrency Payments in Government

Connecticut lawmakers have unanimously passed a bill prohibiting state and local government divisions from accepting cryptocurrency payments and holding crypto assets. The legislation, known as House Bill 7082, received bipartisan support and was signed into law on June 10th. The bill explicitly states that neither the state nor any political subdivision shall accept payments in cryptocurrency or purchase crypto assets. It also prohibits the establishment of a crypto asset reserve for Connecticut, making it one of the few US states to explicitly reject such reserves.
