Cetus DEX Reclaims Operations After Major Attack and Recovery Efforts

The Cetus protocol, a decentralized exchange (DEX) built on the Sui blockchain, suffered a major exploit of its Concentrated Liquidity Market Maker (CLMM) pools on May 22nd, 2025. The attack resulted in a loss of $162 million from investors’ funds. Despite the team’s immediate response to contain the situation and prevent further losses, $60 million were stolen. This incident prompted Cetus to temporarily halt operations for an audit and subsequent recovery efforts.
