Trade Talks Resume in London: U.S. and China Seek to Bridge Differences

U.S. and Chinese trade officials will meet in London on Monday to attempt to resolve outstanding disputes over rare-earth minerals and advanced technology following a phone conversation between President Donald Trump and President Xi Jinping last week. While the May agreement reached in Geneva was supposed to temporarily roll back tariffs exceeding 100%, both sides have accused each other of backing away from this accord. The American delegation, led by Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, will meet with Vice Premier He Lifeng and his team in London to address these concerns.
