DOJ seizes $7.74 Million in Cryptocurrency linked to North Korean IT Workers

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has initiated a civil forfeiture action to seize over $7.7 million worth of cryptocurrency connected to North Korean IT workers engaged in illegal activities. These workers posed as remote employees and earned illicit funds, which were ultimately sent back to North Korea to circumvent sanctions imposed on the nation’s government and fund its military programs.
