Crypto Attacks Exceed $2 Billion in 2025: Wallet Breaches Dominate

The cryptocurrency landscape is witnessing a shift in attack vectors as hackers increasingly target individuals through social engineering, according to Web3 security firm CertiK. The company reports that over $2.1 billion has already been lost to crypto-related attacks in 2025, with wallet compromises playing the dominant role in these losses. The report reveals that while phishing incidents were most frequent, with 114 cases resulting in approximately $401.5 million in losses, they account for a significantly smaller share of total financial damage compared to wallet breaches. This alarming trend highlights the growing sophistication and targeted nature of cyberattacks within the cryptocurrency space.
