U.S. Tariffs on Steel and Aluminum Imports to Rise

President Donald Trump announced a significant increase in tariffs for imported steel and aluminum, elevating the rates from 25% to 50%. This new policy will take effect at 12:01 AM Eastern Time on June 4, 2025. Notably, tariffs on steel and aluminum imports from the United Kingdom remain unchanged at 25%. However, starting July 9, 2025, the U.S. may adjust tariff rates and quotas for these metals under the Environmental Policy Statement. If the UK violates the provisions outlined in this policy, the applicable tariff rate could be raised to 50%.
