Bitcoin’s Premium Soars in South Korea: Altcoins Follow Suit

South Korea’s crypto markets are experiencing a surge, with Bitcoin trading at a 2.61% premium, commonly known as the Kimchi Premium. According to data on Upbit, the popular local exchange, Bitcoin’s price was trading at 148.39 million KRW on June 1st, up by 0.92 percent compared to the previous day. Meanwhile, on global exchange Binance, BTC reached a price of 144.61 million KRW, resulting in a price gap of 3.78 million KRW and a Kimchi Premium of 2.61%. Ethereum (ETH), the leading altcoin, followed suit with a 2.58% Kimchi premium. Other major altcoins also displayed similar premiums: Solana (SOL) at 2.53%, XRP (XRP) at 2.50%, Dogecoin (DOGE) at 2.46%, and Shiba Inu (SHIB) at 2.61%. Most top altcoins are currently trading with a premium within the 2.4% to 2.6% range.
