Nvidia to Open Source Advanced Physics Engine Newton This July

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has stated that creating physical robots is impractical. He emphasizes the need for training robots in virtual environments that simulate the laws of physics. To address this challenge, Nvidia is collaborating with DeepMind and Disney Research to develop Newton, a cutting-edge physics engine poised for open-source release in July. This highly GPU-accelerated engine offers exceptional differentiability and enables ultra-real-time operation, facilitating impactful learning through experience. It will be integrated into Nvidia’s ISAAC simulator, allowing robots to exhibit realistic movement and behavior.
