Bitlayer, a project leveraging BitVM technology in the Bitcoin ecosystem, has partnered with Sui, a high-performance public blockchain platform. This collaboration aims to deploy the BitVM Bridge, enabling greater Bitcoin liquidity within the DeFi space. Co-founder Charlie Hu highlights the significance of this partnership: “While Bitcoin’s dominance as a store of value is undisputed, its potential in DeFi remains largely untapped.”. By integrating Bitcoin liquidity into Sui’s ecosystem, Peg-BTC (YBTC) allows users to earn yield while maintaining direct exposure to Bitcoin’s value. 10% of the total value in the Sui network currently represents BTC assets, demonstrating a significant shift in interest and participation. The BitVM Bridge facilitates this integration. Furthermore, over 587 BTC flowed into Sui since February 2025, signaling strong market interest and participation. This development promises increased financial flexibility for users exploring Bitcoin-backed DeFi scenarios on the Sui network.
