XRP Ledger Ready for Transformative Upgrades: Four Key Changes

The XRP Ledger (XRPL) is poised for significant advancements through new amendment proposals that introduce fresh features and alter transaction processes. The amendment system leverages a consensus process, with validators casting votes to approve changes. When an amendment gains support exceeding 80% over two weeks, it becomes permanently embedded across all subsequent ledger versions. XPMarket CEO and co-founder Dr. Artur Kirjakulov has highlighted four key amendments currently in consideration for voting: dynamic NFTs (dNFTs), MPTs (multi-purpose tokens), XChainBridge, and Credentials and Permissioned Domains. 1. dNFTs are nearly ready for a final vote, requiring only one more validator to pass. 2. The next amendment in line is MPTs, offering a compact and adaptable fungible token format that simplifies the use of ready-to-use tokenization. 3. While XChainBridge has been officially abandoned, it’s still being considered in favor of Axelar. This initiative will continue to receive community votes despite its shift. 4. The Credentials and Permissioned Domains amendment has faced some opposition from community members like Kirjakulov, who sees a priority shift needed towards more developer tools that boost revenue generation for the XRPL. Beyond these key amendments, RippleX recently announced Deep Freeze (not for XRP itself but for issued assets) is now operational on the XRPL. This powerful tool allows issuers to freeze assets at the account level while maintaining decentralization and transparency. Furthermore, RippleX continues to investigate ways to reduce network traffic, lower operational costs, and support future growth, including a promising technique called Squelching. This approach limits peer relays for validator messages, resulting in significant reduction of redundant traffic. The upcoming 2.5.0 release is slated for June and promises to significantly enhance the XRPL’s efficiency regarding memory and bandwidth usage.
