Metaplanet Buys $126.7 Million in Bitcoin, Increasing Holdings to 6,796 BTC

Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has made a significant move in the cryptocurrency market, purchasing another $126.7 million worth of Bitcoin on May 12th. This brings their total holdings to an impressive 6,796 Bitcoin (BTC). The latest purchase, disclosed by CEO Simon Gerovich on X, involved buying 1,271 BTC at a price of $102,119 per coin, totaling approximately $608.2 million in investment so far. Metaplanet measures its progress using BTC Yield, which shows the percentage increase in Bitcoin held per fully diluted share, currently sitting at a remarkable 170% year-to-date between January and April 2025. 6,796 BTC represents 68% of their goal to reach a total of 10,000 BTC by 2025.
