Ethereum Pectra Upgrade Raises Security Concerns as Offchain Signatures Enable Funds Theft

The latest upgrade to Ethereum’s network, Pectra, brings new scalability and smart account functionality but also introduces a potentially dangerous attack vector that could allow hackers to steal funds from user wallets. The vulnerability stems from the introduction of offchain signature transactions in EIP-7702, which enables attackers to control external owner accounts (EOAs) without requiring direct onchain user signing.
