In 2025, over 560 million people worldwide are already using cryptocurrency – a figure exceeding Tokyo’s population by seventeen times. While this represents a burgeoning community, millions more remain on the sidelines, deterred by complex protocols and interfaces. Jonathan Farnell, CEO of Freedx, argues that user experience (UX) holds the key to unlocking cryptocurrency’s full potential: If it can achieve seamless integration, mass adoption could be within reach. His analysis is based on Chainalysis reports revealing a 43% drop in would-be crypto users due to technical challenges like private keys and gas fees. A significant portion of crypto lost – billions of dollars in value – because of seed phrase mishandling further underlines the need for UX improvement. Streamlining this complexity could catapult cryptocurrency into mainstream use, pushing its market cap towards $4 trillion by 2025.
