Is the Fed About to Cut Rates? Experts Weigh In on Upcoming Decisions

Despite expectations of a rate cut following strong employment data, investors are scaling back their hopes. LPL Financial’s Chief Economist Jeffrey Roach believes this week’s Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting will be less than impactful. Instead of an immediate change in interest rates, Roach predicts the Fed will prepare markets for a possible June rate cut through speeches during the process. He anticipates three quarter-point cuts throughout 2023: in June, October, and December, respectively.
