Bhutan Embraces Crypto Tourism, Becomes First Nation to Implement National Payment System

Bhutan has taken a pioneering step by partnering with Binance and DK Bank to launch the world’s first national-level cryptocurrency tourism system. This innovative initiative allows travelers with Binance accounts to pay for almost all aspects of their journey using cryptocurrencies. From airfare to hotel bookings, monument entries, tour guides, and even local fruit vendors, visitors can now utilize these digital assets throughout their trip. 100 local merchants have already been integrated into the system, though specific names haven’t been disclosed. 100+ cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and USD Coin (USDC) are supported via QR codes within the Binance app, ensuring seamless transactions for tourists. While visitors pay in crypto, merchants receive their payment in local currency through DK Bank, Bhutan’s digital bank officially licensed by the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan. This groundbreaking partnership signifies a significant step towards bridging cultures and economies using cutting-edge technology.
