Crypto Attacks Cost $357 Million in April 2025: Bitcoin-Related Losses Lead the Way

A significant cybersecurity challenge emerged for the crypto industry in April 2025, with a total of 18 major attacks causing a loss of $357.11 million. A majority of these losses ( $330.7 million) were attributed to unauthorized Bitcoin transfers, as revealed by PANews and PeckShieldAlert insights. Despite this significant setback, recovery efforts have yielded some relief with $14.4 million recovered from select projects such as KiloEx and zkSync. 60+ crypto hacks in Q1 2025 resulted in a total loss of $1.63 billion, showcasing the increasing frequency and scale of attacks on the blockchain ecosystem.
