Bitcoin Core Removes OP_RETURN Limit: Community Divided

Bitcoin Core has made a significant change to its transaction policies, removing the previously imposed limit on the OP_RETURN function. This decision, led by Gregory Sanders, has sparked division within the crypto community. The move aims to improve network efficiency by allowing transactions with outputs exceeding 80 bytes. 80-byte outputs will now be routinely relayed and mined as part of Bitcoin Core’s new release.
