Malaysian authorities have dismantled illegal Bitcoin mining operations in the Hulu Terengganu and Marang regions. The operation, carried out by police and the Special Engagement Against Losses (SEAL) unit of Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), resulted in the seizure of 45 Bitcoin mining machines valued at approximately $52,145. The investigation also uncovered a significant electricity theft estimated at around $8,342 per month, which was achieved by tapping into both residential and commercial power sources. The operation highlights the ongoing efforts to combat illegal activities in Malaysia’s northeast. Authorities have emphasized that investigations are continuing to identify those responsible for the illicit operations, and they anticipate further breakthroughs as they work towards a comprehensive understanding of the scope of these illegal practices.
