Baanx and Visa Launch USDC Card for Crypto Wallets: Enabling Everyday Spending with Stablecoins

Baanx and Visa have teamed up to launch a new payment card that allows users of self-custody crypto wallets to spend their USDC currency. This initiative, designed to improve accessibility and utility of stablecoins, launches in Latin America and aims to streamline everyday transactions for cryptocurrency holders. The card leverages Visa’s extensive network for real-time USDC to fiat conversions, enabling spending on goods and services in a frictionless manner. This marks a significant step towards wider adoption of stablecoins for daily use, impacting how consumers interact with cryptocurrency for purchases. Baanx CEO Simon Jones sees this as a chance to encourage non-custodial spending through rewards programs offered on the card’s associated Rewards Wallet, also powered by Circle. Visa’s strategic involvement plays a crucial role in facilitating this financial innovation and is expected to boost USDC’s market presence. The move comes following previous successful ventures like the MetaMask Card, further bolstering the impact of self-custody solutions within the crypto market.
