El Salvador Continues Bitcoin Purchases Despite IMF Deal

El Salvador is defying a $1.4 billion IMF loan agreement that mandated reduced Bitcoin purchases, continuing its aggressive Bitcoin accumulation despite signing the deal. The country’s Bitcoin Office has continued buying Bitcoin (BTC) according to Economy Minister Maria Luisa Hayem in an interview with Bloomberg, asserting a commitment from President Bukele to maintain a strong asset portfolio. 6,162 BTC – worth over $580 million – currently belongs to El Salvador, highlighting the nation’s steadfast stance on crypto assets despite scrutiny surrounding its Bitcoin Law implementation.
