Bitcoin Holdings by Nations: The Current Landscape

A recent report by CoinGecko reveals that as of April 2025, governments worldwide hold a total of 463,741 Bitcoin (BTC), accounting for approximately 2.3% of the entire cryptocurrency’s supply. This figure represents a decrease from July 2024’s reported holdings of 529,591 BTC. countries are actively accumulating their Bitcoin reserves, while others are selling off portions of their holdings. Countries like El Salvador and Bhutan stand out for their continued accumulation of Bitcoin. On the other hand, nations such as the US and Germany have reduced their Bitcoin reserves. The United States, for instance, holds a significant amount of Bitcoin with approximately 198,012 BTC (valued at around $18.3 billion), although this figure is down slightly from its 2024 levels. This decline comes as part of the
