China Disputes Trade Talks Claims with U.S.

China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has categorically denied ongoing trade negotiations with the United States. During a press conference, spokesperson Guo Jiakun refuted reports suggesting such talks are in progress or nearing an agreement on tariffs. He clarified that no discussions or negotiations have begun between the two nations concerning tariff matters. Guo reiterated China’s long-standing position, asserting that the tariff conflict was initiated by the U.S., and outlined their readiness to respond to any actions taken by Washington while emphasizing openness to dialogue and negotiation. However, he stressed the crucial requirement for any talks to be conducted on an equal footing with respect and mutual benefit at the core of the discussion.
