Crypto exchange Coinbase is expanding its presence in Charlotte, North Carolina with plans to create over 130 new jobs. The company highlighted the city’s growing prominence as a hub for fintech and regulatory compliance as key factors behind this decision. These new hires will focus on compliance and customer support roles and are expected to be filled within the next six months. Coinbase’s spokesperson also emphasized Charlotte’s strong population growth, skilled workforce, and favorable financial climate as attractive aspects in expanding its operations. 2020 marked a transition for the company as it moved into a remote-first model with offices in San Francisco and New York. While remaining primarily remote-focused, some roles will require an on-site presence to better serve customers. Approximately 95% of Coinbase employees can choose from a range of work models – working remotely, in offices, or a combination of both.
