A new report reveals that cryptocurrency gambling has experienced a significant surge, generating over $81.4 billion in revenue last year despite being illegal in most regions. This growth is driven by the rise of crypto casinos, such as Stake, Rollbit, and Roobet, which operate from jurisdictions where gambling is legal, like Curaçao and Malta. Even with its illegal status in many countries, VPN access remains prevalent. Despite this, a spokesperson for Stake highlights their compliance with applicable laws and regulations. A Financial Times test, however, found it possible to create an account using a VPN without verifying address or affordability, raising concerns about potential illegal activity.
