Japanese investment firm Metaplanet has recently acquired an additional 330 bitcoins, increasing its total holdings to 4,855. The purchase, announced on April 21st, was valued at approximately $26 million (¥4.02 billion), translating into a per-coin average price of ¥12.18 million ($85,605). Metaplanet’s Bitcoin holdings now amount to nearly ¥62.17 billion ($414 million) at an average acquisition price of ¥12.8 million ($85,386) per coin. [
This acquisition brings Metaplanet’s Bitcoin Yield to 119.3% YTD 2025.
Metaplanet’s unique metric, “BTC Yield,” measures the amount of Bitcoin held per fully diluted share. The firm saw a significant increase in BTC yield, with figures reaching 41.7%, 309.8%, and 95.6% in the past three quarters, indicating a strong performance.
The company finances its Bitcoin strategy through various capital market tools like zero-coupon bonds and stock acquisition rights. Metaplanet has already completed over 40% of its ¥210 million “210 Million Plan,” raising over ¥35 billion ($226 million) so far, including an additional $10 million in a zero-interest bond last week.
The company estimates earning ¥3 billion ($27.5 million) from its Bitcoin program this year, contributing to a total of ¥3.4 billion ($31.3 million) in revenue.
