Standard Chartered Forecasts $2 Trillion in Stablecoin Market Cap by 2026

Standard Chartered predicts a dramatic rise in the value of stablecoins, with their market capitalization projected to reach $2 trillion by 2026. This growth is expected to significantly impact demand for U.S. Treasury bonds, reshaping financial markets and altering global economic structures. The bank’s report highlights the potential of stablecoins as a major force in the financial arena. Geoffrey Kendrick, Head of Digital Assets Research at Standard Chartered, stated that this surge necessitates an extra $1.6 trillion of US T-bills to be held as reserves. This represents all new Treasury bill issuance over the next three years.
