Spar Supermarket in Zug Now Accepts Bitcoin Payments

In a move aimed at embracing the rise of cryptocurrency, Spar supermarket in Switzerland has become the latest retailer to accept Bitcoin payments. Located in Zug, the store is utilizing the Lightning Network and QR code system to facilitate Bitcoin transactions, joining over 1,000 crypto-friendly businesses across the nation. This significant development follows Spar’s adoption of OpenCryptoPay, an open peer-to-peer standard designed for person-to-person cryptocurrency payments, alongside DFX Swiss’s launch of their crypto-fiat payment services. This initiative positions Switzerland as a leader in mainstream Bitcoin adoption.
