US Court Halts Lawsuit Against SEC After Leadership Change

A US federal court has temporarily suspended legal action filed by 18 state attorney generals and the crypto advocacy group DeFi Education Fund against the Securities and Exchange Commission. This pause follows a statement from the SEC indicating that the case could be resolved due to recent leadership changes at the regulator. The order, issued by Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove on April 16th, will remain in effect for 60 days, while requiring both parties to file a joint status report within 30 days. This action follows the appointment of Paul Atkins as SEC chair earlier this month, replacing outgoing chair Mark Uyeda and Gary Gensler.
