Project 11, a quantum computing research firm, has announced a groundbreaking competition aimed at assessing the potential security threats posed by quantum computers to Bitcoin. The “Q-Day Prize” offers a staggering $84,000 in Bitcoin (1 BTC) to anyone who can crack even a portion of a Bitcoin private key using a quantum computer by April 5, 2026. This challenge requires utilizing Shor’s algorithm on a real quantum computer, with classical computing methods strictly prohibited.
