Georgia is exploring the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize land ownership systems. The country has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hedera, a decentralized ledger platform, to investigate the feasibility of implementing on-chain registries for real estate data. This initiative builds upon Georgia’s long history of experimenting with blockchain in government administration. Blockchain trials have already been conducted, including connections to Bitcoin and Ripple platforms. The Ministry of Justice will conduct an in-depth investigation into Hedera’s potential role in supporting national property record systems, exploring how on-chain data storage could enhance the integrity and transparency of ownership records.
