Taiwan Set for First Government-Approved Stablecoin in Second Half of 2026

Taiwan is on track to launch its first government-approved stablecoin in the second half of 2026, according to Financial Supervisory Commission Chairman Peng Jin-long. This timeline depends on the passage of the Virtual Assets Service Act and subsequent regulatory preparations. The bill must pass through the Legislative Yuan’s current session and be approved in the next if progress proceeds smoothly.
