The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has ordered the founders of bankrupt cryptocurrency mining company HashFlare, Sergei Potapenko and Ivan Turõgin, to leave the country immediately. This order contradicts a court ruling that previously required them to remain in King County, Washington. According to lawyers representing the Estonian nationals, DHS sent identical emails on April 6th and April 11th instructing them to depart or face enforcement action. The pair have pleaded guilty and agreed to forfeit $400 million in assets as part of their sentencing proceedings, scheduled for August 14th. Prosecutors are currently engaging with DHS to explore the possibility of extending their stay in the United States.
