Amina Bank, in collaboration with Crypto Finance Group and other participating banks, has completed a pilot project utilizing distributed ledger technology (DLT) on Google Cloud Universal Ledger. This initiative enables near real-time, 24/7 fiat currency settlements between Swiss regulated banks, showcasing the potential for DLT integration within existing banking systems. The pilot utilized traditional commercial bank funds instead of introducing new cryptocurrencies. This successful implementation demonstrates the seamless blending of DLT technology with existing financial infrastructure under established regulatory and compliance frameworks. This achievement serves as a foundation for future advancements in cross-border payments, multi-currency settlements, and point-of-sale integrated payments, signifying a potential shift towards Web3 and blockchain technologies within the traditional financial system.
