Upbit Acknowledges Security Vulnerability Following $30M Hack

Crypto exchange Upbit has taken responsibility for a security breach that saw over $30 million stolen, admitting flaws in its wallet system played a role. The company confirmed the issue was identified following an investigation into unusual withdrawals from Solana-related wallets. They stated that their review of blockchain transactions revealed a vulnerability allowing access to private keys, causing the theft. Upbit halted all deposits and withdrawals while they worked to address the issue and ensure the stability of their system before resuming services. The exchange is also offering full compensation for affected customers, who have already been reimbursed through its own reserves.
